The WorkSafeBC First Aid Transportation Endorsement course is designed to provide certified first aid attendants with the additional knowledge and practical skills required to safely transport injured or ill workers from a worksite to medical aid.

Participants learn how to prepare patients for transport, monitor patient conditions during transport, and work within WorkSafeBC transportation requirements and protocols. This course combines classroom instruction with hands-on practical exercises and scenario-based training to ensure attendants can respond confidently in workplace emergencies.

  • Occupational First Aid attendants requiring a Transportation Endorsement for workplace compliance
  • Workers employed at remote or resource-based worksites where transportation of injured workers may be necessary

PLEASE NOTE: A VALID FIRST AID TRAINING CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED AS A PREREQUISITE FOR THIS COURSE – ACCEPTABLE LEVELS INCLUDE THE BASIC/EMERGENCY OR INTERMEDIATE/STANDARD FIRST AID CERTIFICATES.

  • Patient assessment and monitoring
  • Packaging and securing patients for safe movement
  • Spinal motion restriction and immobilization
  • Lifting, moving, and carrying techniques
  • Use of stretchers and transportation equipment
  • Airway, breathing, and circulation management
  • Management of shock and medical emergencies
  • Communication and documentation procedures
  • Coordination with Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
  • Practical transportation scenarios and simulations
  • Safety considerations for patient and rescuerΒ 
IMPORTANT - "STATEMENT OF FITNESS" REQUIRED:

A general level of physical fitness is required for this training, as participants will engage in a variety of practical exercises – prolonged kneeling, working in stooped positions, and rolling other participants. During the course, each participant is required to act as an attendant, helper and patient in the training scenarios.

Please bring government-issued photo identification to present at sign-in.

Completion

Upon successful completion, students must successfully complete both written and practical evaluations in accordance with WorkSafeBC and TriTech Safety standards to receive a passing certification; 100% attendance and participation is required.
