The Canadian Red Cross Advanced First Aid (AFA) is a 2-week training course that provides comprehensive training in emergency medical response, patient assessment, and advanced first aid care for workplace and emergency situations.

This course combines theory, practical skill development, and realistic scenario training to prepare participants to respond confidently to serious injuries and medical emergencies until advanced medical care is available. Training meets applicable workplace and industry first aid requirements and emphasizes hands-on learning and teamwork.

*Payment for this course is due 1-week prior to the start of this training. A $100 cancellation fee will apply if cancelled within 48 business our of the course start.

  • Environmental illnesses
  • Pregnancy, labour and delivery
  • Special populations & crisis intervention
  • Reaching, lifting, extricating, and transporting patients

Completion

Upon successful completion, students will have the ability to comprehend and successfully demonstrate all required skills; 100% attendance and participation; 75% min. passing grade on a written, closed book knowledge evaluation; and adherence to the Fundamental Principles.

Full Course Duration: Two Weeks (10 business days, approx. 80-120 hrs)

Recert Duration: One Week (5 business days, approx. 80 hrs)
